The Department for Welfare of Disabled was established in 1983 after the demerger from the Social Welfare Department. The Department has embarked upon novel schemes and programmes & strengthened the service delivery for empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in the State and is rapidly marching ahead with a vision to create an accessible and inclusive society for equal participation of Persons with Disabilities in all spheres so as to achieve their goals to lead a life of dignity, independence and contribute to nations development.
